FONDAMENTA

"Fondamenta" is an Italian (especially Venetian) term and indicates a foundation wall along a canal or waterway. Started in 1999 the "Fondamenta-series" is a still continuing long term project of paintings, first of all a dedication to the city of Venice. It tells about water and architecture. Reflections about a city built into the sea and a homage to an surprisingly successful attempt of human civilization to deal with the forces of nature.
CANALE

Another series of work which delves into the city of Venice. About its fascinating atmosphere, the colours of its architecture and the light generated by the presence of water. But also about the continous process of decay that Venetians have resisted through the ages. Growth and decline as a metaphor for life itself.
COLOUR OBJECTS

Entering the third dimension these works oscillate between panel painting and sculpture and have an explicit focus on pure colour and structure.
INTO THE GREEN

A series of paintings started in 2014 about lively nature, about dense woods and impenetrable thickets. Growing and transience. "Into the Green" is paying homage to the vibrant vegetable nature live and tells about a deep gap between mankind and nature – and a narrow bridge across: a slightly roamantic approach, oscillating between abstraction and naturalism.
INTO THE BLUE

Horizon. What does it mean? Marks it the end of our visible and imaginable world or is it a beginning of someting else just beyond?
The patch of a shore, an excerpt of sea and sky. A world apart secluded islands, explored only by imagination and the finger on a globe.

A When I close my eyes, at night or during the day, images of landscapes sometimes appear in my mind's eye. Sometimes they are clear, but mostly diffuse. Perhaps fragments of memories, dreams. Maybe just an inkling of something greater, the greatness of nature. This series of works is dedicated to those "apparitions of landscape".
DIGITAL 'PAINTINGS'

Photography depicts our world and seem to 'reproduce' reality. But does it really?
Perhaps not – if the origin of this supposed reality is a painting and therefore fictional..
